this week's index of delight...
“From there I realized I craved color, the consolation of beautiful colors.” — Sue Clancy
When I read Sue’s post back in January, I immediately grabbed an index card and made a note so I would remember the phrase, but also so that I would know where to look it up again. I’m thankful to Sue and to my January self, which allowed me to revisit the post today when I reread something else she included a list of prompts for the Quiet Revolution. More on that below.
Every couple of days I stand in the garden and exclaim: “Oh look, — the (fill in the blank) is blooming! For those of you concerned about keeping my criminal record clean, you’ll be glad to know that I purchased a glorious bouquet of lilacs from a local flower farmer. That lilac season should overlap with the first of the bearded irises is an immodest delight.

The Quiet Revolution
2. Find and do work you love and that matters to you and do it as well as you possibly can. Think community, reciprocity, mutual well-being.
You’ll find the rest of Sue’s list and her entire post here.

My irises are right below my lilac and welcoming them helps keep me from being too sad about saying goodbye to the lilacs. (Congratulatiins on another season of avoiding petty theft.)
💞 agree I have to also say I really enjoy your substacks thank you so much. I also want to thank you for your openings of comments to all. I really appreciate that philosophy also so many close theirs to only paid subscribers of which I have to admit is a bit of a turn off to me. Sharing the good with community comes in many shapes & forms. Although I also acknowledge it can be a slippery slope as with what happened to you/others when all of your hard work was stolen from you or the many unnecessary often hateful & other sorts of comments some seem to do but still I wanted to let you know I really appreciate & understand the utmost kindness & ultruism of this gesture. I also believe that in the long run it does & will pay off. Thank you 💞
