The Mushroom Colour Atlas website has an incredible array of the different pigments you can extract from various mushrooms as well as a small description of the process and details about how different mordants shift the colours for each mushroom! It is super cool! 🤩 There is also a book, I believe its called “The Rainbow Under Our Feet” that is the go-to for mycology folk interested in natural dyes. (I am currently on a mission to find Dyers Polypore in crown land to try the dye out! It makes a glorious green - ochre depending on the mordant. But I haven’t tried the process before!) I hope your back surgery goes well ❤️
I've spoken with Julie, the mastermind/alchemist behind the Mushroom Color Atlas! It's so generous that everything on the site is accessible to anyone. Dying with natural pigments is so satisfying -- although I've had my share of producing dishwater beige fibers, I'm looking at you Nettles!
That is so cool! I admire her work so much! I have had success with chestnuts and purple basil; I have a batch of acorns drying to try dying some napkins this season. Hoping it goes well! It is so rewarding! Even when it doesn’t turn out quite the way you expect 😂

I will be sending good thoughts your way in November as you take the steps you need toward a less-painful life.
thank you Linda. I think it will be a productive reset... and I can watch cooking videos all day!
Our poor aging bodies that can’t keep up with our souls! Sending healing thoughts and love while you take care of yours❤️
