Hello!

I’m Lorene Edwards Forkner, a gardener who writes and a writer who gardens and cooks. I’m the author of several books including Color In and Out of the Garden, a memoir told in plants and color and cultivating the practice of paying attention.

Why subscribe?

Subscribers to Cultivating Color receive a weekly round up of color studies and observations as well as a brief dispatch of inspiration at the beginning of each week. Once a month I’ll include seasonal ramblings, recent writing, book recommendations, information about upcoming classes and workshops, and special discount offers for goods in my store and online classes.

I love the community that’s grown around my color practice on Instagram, and I will continue to post there @seeing_color_in_the_garden, but I think we can all agree, email is a much quieter space, free from the vagaries of a sometimes-quixotic algorithm that censors connection. Now you can get all the colors and observations directly in your inbox. Of course you can read my posts here on Substack, but subscribing is the only way to be notified of new posts.

Cultivating Color emails are free, although becoming a paid subscriber, even just for one month, you’ll get complete access to all archived content. Everyone, free or otherwise, has my eternal gratitude.
